Nadias Hotel Cenang Langkawi

I was there over New Year, and the central Pantai Cenang location made it easy to get around. Restaurants, shops and attractions are mostly an easy walk away. The room was comfortable and looked well cared for. Breakfast was decent, though the selection wasn't extensive. A good choice if you want to stay in the middle of Pantai Cenang and have things close by.

The pool doesn't get much sun, and the TV has very little for English speakers. Those were the only small drawbacks for me. Breakfast had a tasty range of options, and the staff were professional and accommodating. The hotel is very well managed, with care showing throughout. I'd stay here again without a second thought.

The location was the one clear plus: it's right across from Chenang beach, about a five-minute walk, and there are lots of other hotels in the area, some at half the price. My biggest concern was the connecting door to the next room. It had no lock, so I felt I had no privacy or security, and could hear people in the other room even when they were loud. They were noisy enough that I could barely sleep. I was scared about leaving my documents and belongings there, so I took everything with me even to get a bottle of water. I asked several times to change rooms, but was told they were fully booked, although I saw rooms become free each day. The sheets had several stains, and I felt disgusted using them, but had no other option. Despite Agoda saying there was a great view, I was given a room with a terrible street view. Apparently the better-view rooms are larger and meant for big families. I had already paid through Agoda, but was charged another 65 Ringget for taxes on arrival, separate from the security deposit. The room screen barely worked, had no YouTube, and only a few channels in Malaysian, so I turned it off. Receptionist FAHMI, who they call boss, was rude and wouldn't let me check in even two minutes early, though a room was available. The check-in also involved so much paperwork that I wondered if this was really a hotel check-in. In other KL hotels it took a minute. The unlocked connecting door was what really terrified me, with my documents in the room. I could have chosen a better hotel.

It's a clean, comfortable place, though not luxurious. The room was decent and the shower was good. The beach is very close, and the area around it is busy with food and other shops.
