OYO 89850 DSA Motel

The windows wouldn't shut, so traffic from the busy main road and the nearby mosque carried on coming in around the clock. There was no staff around to ask for help. The sheets and towels were stained, and the headboard cover was filthy. It was cheaper than a hostel, which I now understand. Buyer beware.

The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. Wi-Fi was good all evening but had stopped working by morning, and the shower stayed cold no matter what I tried. The towels were worn out, too. For the price, the room itself was fine, though management should replace those towels. It's cheap and good value, with four convenience stores next door and about a 20-minute walk to the ferry terminal. I arrived around 12:15 and nobody was at reception. I walked to the terminal and back to buy my ticket to Penang, but there was still no one at 1:45. At 2, a girl showed up carrying cleaning supplies. Apparently she does the cleaning and reception as well. She apologized, and I got checked in. Maybe management could provide a bell or pager. I'd rate it closer to 3.5, and I preferred the Seri Mutiara.

The room was clean and nice, with good air conditioning and free hot and cold water. Huah jetty is walkable if you don't have much luggage, or it's 4rm by Grab.

The boss told me there was no room when I arrived and said I had to cancel the booking myself. I've never run into this situation before.
