Sleepy Hollow Villa

Liza and Sammy, the owners, are very nice, helpful, and friendly, and we’d love to return with our kids. The flat is cozy and clean, with a nice pool, and the quiet countryside setting suited us. You have everything you need, though the standard isn’t especially high. Several beaches are easy to reach by car or motorbike. We recommend renting a car, which can be picked up at the airport, an 8 min. drive away.

This is a great home with really good service, a good base for staying on the island. It sits in the middle, so the different coastlines, north, south, east, and west, are all about the same distance away. Jungle surrounds it, with plenty of chances to spot animals like geckos, varans, spiders, frogs, and others. If lying on the beach isn’t your thing and you’d rather explore nature, choose this place. Malaysia and Oceania have such different nature that you won’t regret staying here. The locals have a different outlook on life. They don’t hurry, seem happy, and go about life quietly and at an easy pace. Stay here if you want to relax and get a fresh view of your own life. There’s a small cafe nearby, where locals eat cheap, delicious food. It’s also a good place to meet people. In the evening, you can play checkers with them, smoke local tobacco, and talk about anything under the sun. English is fairly well understood across the island. Choose this place if you want to see your life differently.

It feels like a country place, a little out of the way, but that gave me a real look at local life. Sammy and the staff were welcoming and helpful.

Tucked among the trees beside a river, this cozy spot is around 4 km from the airport. I really enjoyed staying here.
