The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa

It's so peaceful here, right on a clean private beach, and the place feels luxurious and restorative. The property is beautiful enough that you may not want to step out at all. There are Frangipani trees all around, and their lovely flowers leave a fragrance in the air. The staff are helpful and always available. I'd recommend staying here.

We spent four nights here and would absolutely do it again. Expect a few ants in the room, a fridge that doesn't work, and grounds that look a little run down. But you also get the sound of the ocean, a beautiful beach right there, kind staff, and a wonderfully relaxing stay. If you want everything to be up to date, working, and spotless, this probably isn't the place. For quiet and direct beach access, it's an easy choice.

The beachfront location was great, and the beach felt "private" to some extent. Our family room had two connecting rooms, plenty of space, a nice porch, air conditioning, and a ceiling fan. There were a few problems with the rooms. The AC in one room didn't cool it down; after I reported it, the response was that it was an old machine, with no real solution. Tap water came out brown and murky. They told us to run it until it cleared, but it never became completely clear. One bathroom window had lots of gecko droppings, which I ended up cleaning myself. The receptionist said occupancy was at 90%, so those were the only rooms available. I guessed the rooms we got hadn't been occupied for a long time. Breakfast was okay, with enough variety and decent taste to fill you up, but don't expect Michelin-star quality. It was an okay stay. If we visit Langkawi again, I'll look for an alternative, though I'd be happy to return to Frangipani with lower expectations.

We stayed Jan 2-5, 2026, in a garden villa. You don't get a direct sea view, though we could see the beach from our little place. It's a slightly older property, but kept in good shape. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was tasty. The resort sits right by the beach, away from the Cenang malls and main shops, which made it a lovely quiet spot to relax. There’s a restaurant on site with reasonable prices, and shops, spas, massage places, and food spots are an easy walk just outside.
