The Smith House

With a single room, the price felt like excellent value. It was one of the smallest rooms I’ve seen outside Japan, though still adequate apart from having nowhere to open a large suitcase 😅. The hotel is clean and hygienic, with a nice breakfast spread, including hot dishes and eggs made to order. The restaurant menu is limited, but the food tastes authentic and classy. There’s a small rooftop pool and bar, and the hotel is a local landmark in a commercial area, close to the airport, 7-11, chois and other shops. Parking nearby is very good and free if you’ve rented a car. It’s also one of the closest hotels to the skywalk and cable car.

There are plenty of fast food places right below the hotel, and self-service laundry shops nearby. A mosque and the government healthcare centre are only a few steps away. We loved the hotel, breakfast and amenities, especially the rooftop pool and gym, which are must-visits. It went beyond what we expected, and we’d definitely stay here again on our next visit. Looking forward to it!

Tiffany says this was a great place to stay during two trips for wedding site visits. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff and service were great. After we’d flown back to KL, my partner realized they’d left an iPhone lighting charger in the room. Reception got in touch with room keeping, who kept it safe and delivered it back to us within two days. Thanks especially to the reception and room keeping teams. Their helpfulness really matters. We’ll be back.

The Italian restaurant is well worth a try, and the staff are helpful with recommendations. There’s a beach nearby for sunset, plenty of good food options, and the departure terminal is about five minutes away. 7/11 is in the same parking lot, roughly a 30-second walk from the front door. My room was roomy, very clean and had excellent AC. I did spot a few tiny ants, but that’s common in Asia, and I shouldn’t have left food open on the counter. This is one of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed at in Malaysia so far.
