Villa Molek

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was tasty and hygienic. There wasn’t a huge selection, but it was filling. The villa has a small bakery and restaurant-bar on site, a cosy front sitting area, spacious rooms with enough equipment, and a beautiful pool. Washrooms were clean and had plenty of natural light. It’s on a broad, clean beachside main road that isn’t too crowded, yet you can walk to the main lively areas. Tengah beach is about 100 metres away, and places like Hidden Langkawi are right there. The airport is close too. Unless you need a beachfront property or sea views from a high-rise hotel room, this is easily the best spot in Langkawi.

Villa Molek feels like a small luxury resort at a fraction of the price, with friendly service. Our room was huge, with distinct bedroom, living room, kitchenette and wardrobe spaces. The furniture looked a little dated but worked well, and daily housekeeping kept things reasonably clean. The small pool seemed to be cleaned each day, and there’s greenery all around. Breakfast had plenty of breads and pastries, plus eggs and coffee made to order. A couple of hot dishes, like fried rice or noodles, would have made it even better. On our last day, staff packed breakfast for us since we had an early airport departure. Pantai Tengah is less than a five-minute walk away. Cenang Beach is about 15 minutes on foot, or under S$2 by Grab. It’s a convenient base for most Langkawi sights, and I’d strongly recommend Villa Molek for a short or longer getaway.

We liked the room, and it was nice and quiet for our three nights. The staff were wonderful. The owner kindly let us extend check-out until our flight. The hot shower and water pressure were great, though I wish breakfast had more variety.

The rooms have been thought through beautifully, even the kitchens, and ours had no insects. There’s a great pool and lovely nature around the hotel. The price feels just right for what you get. This is my favourite place to stay in Langkawi, and we’ll definitely come back.
