Lumut Hotel

We were exhausted after a 7-hour trip from Kuala Lumpur and just wanted to get to the hotel and sleep. I booked through Agoda at around 7:59 PM and told the property we'd arrive by 11 PM. We were still about 30 minutes away, but couldn't find a Grab driver. I called to explain and asked not to be charged since it was out of our control. They gave me numbers for two taxi drivers, but neither answered. We spent over an hour trying to book a ride ourselves, with no luck. Even after I explained the situation, the hotel charged me. Agoda had already issued the receipt and processed the payment by the time I contacted them. I understand there are policies, but some empathy and flexibility would have made a big difference. The whole thing was truly disappointing after such a tiring journey. EDIT: Please lie better, Lumut Owner.

The surroundings are calm and quiet, and the room and toilet were clean and well maintained. The TV had YouTube, which was a nice little bonus. It's easy to find, close to 99 Speedmart, KFC and several restaurants. There's parking, though you have to pay through the Perak parking app. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, and the receptionist was very friendly. Remember there's a RM100 deposit and RM3 heritage fee at check-in. Pleasant stay, I'd come back.

The front desk Chinese Lady was warm, polite and professional, and gave us plenty of useful information. The rooms are upstairs on the first floor, so you do have to climb stairs, but that's fine for a budget hotel. They take a RM100 deposit, returned at checkout. The hallway was bright and clean, and the room security setup seemed as good as what you'd find in 4 and 5 star hotels. Inside, everything was neat, the bed was surprisingly soft, and the bathroom had non-slip gravel tiles with a glass divider between the shower and toilet. There was a water boiler, 2 packets of 3-in-1 coffee and 2 bottles of water. The aircond was cool, with a fan and LED TV as well. A convenience store is right opposite and DIY is next door. The jetty, shops and bank are within walking distance, with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Very satisfied. Hope the service stays at this level, and I'll gladly book again when I go to Lumut.

We weren't told that we'd need to mark our parking spot when using the property's lot. The room itself was spacious and very clean, and 99 speedmart was nearby.
