Valley View Hotel

I keep staying here because it’s close to where I need to be in town, and I only need somewhere to sleep and shower. The rooms are filthy, though. Dark stains in all sorts of colours cover the walls, cobwebs sit in the ceiling corners and on the air con and TV, and dust is everywhere except the floor and bed. The pillows smell sour and mildewy, like they’ve had many sweaty heads on them. There are black mould marks and other stains in the bathroom too. I used to get complimentary drinking water. This time, for the first time, I got two tiny hand soaps and a used toilet paper roll! 😂 711 has shut down, and apparently a cafe is going to take its place.

For families, the spacious, clean room with three king-size beds worked well for us. The air conditioning cooled it properly, shower pressure was decent, and the counter staff were friendly. It’s affordable too. The hotel is only a few minutes’ drive from Teluk Batik Beach. You can’t really walk there, so it suits you if you’re driving. Beside the entrance there’s a 24-hour 7 Eleven, with a Mamak Restaurant next door that isn’t open all day. 99 Speedmart and 24-hour CU Mart are also nearby. A mixed rice place within walking distance serves reasonably priced food that’s pretty good. In my opinion, it’s a good fit for a budget stay.

Bring RM50 in cash for the deposit. Otherwise reception will tell you, “deposit mestilah cash”. The room has plenty of space, which earns a star from me, but the service doesn’t. Please improve it.

There’s no lift, just stairs, so consider that if you’re bringing elderly people. The place is clean and comfortable, with easy access to 7e, a mamak stall and the beach. Thumbs up for this oyo 👍🏻👍🏻 I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip.
