Discovery Cafe & Guesthouse

This was fine for me on a backpacking trip, but I wouldn't choose it for a family or group. The rooms are like boxes, and there's a communal washroom. It's okay if all you need is a bed for a quick stopover. The location is accessible, but there's no view or amenities to speak of.

I loved staying here because the service was so good. They upgraded our room for free, gave us a simple breakfast at no charge, let us check out at 5 p.m, and lent us bicycles for free. The price was good and the location was strategic. If you want a nice, cheap place in Malaka, you should stay here. :)

The price is very low, so it works well for backpackers, and the bed was simple but comfortable. The staff were friendly, and there’s hot water, air conditioning, and a fan. I couldn’t find the TV that was supposedly provided, and there was only tissue in the toilet, no soap or shampoo. The floor could use a better clean since it was a bit dusty. Jonker Street is about a five-minute walk away, and there’s a convenience store and Mambo Kopitiam nearby, which I recommend.

The rooms are a little dated, but they were comfortable and had air conditioning. The staff were genuinely helpful and friendly, including with things like booking a taxi or arranging a bus to Cameron. It’s right in the historic center of Malacca City, and I came away with very good memories. Thank you.
