Doris Hotel

We were told our room had been overbooked because it was booked through a third party. We checked in at 6 PM, but didn’t get the room we’d actually booked until 9 PM. Until then, we had to use a small room to get ready. There was no explanation or apology. The next morning the bathroom water pressure was very low, then the water stopped completely. When I told the receptionist, he said it wasn’t his responsibility. He admitted water problems happen sometimes, but nobody warned us at check-in. Instead of helping, he got defensive and raised his voice. The receptionist was extremely rude throughout, and never apologized for anything we raised. Even at a budget hotel, running water and basic courtesy should be standard. Avoid this place.

The staff at the front desk and elsewhere were friendly, and the location has nice restaurants nearby. Parking was a problem, though, and I couldn’t find a spot. I stayed two nights and it was very quiet during the day, but by evening the cars racing outside made so much noise I couldn’t sleep. The room had a strong musty smell when I walked in. There was someone else’s brown hair on the bed, and the towels had black stains. When I moved the sofa to retrieve something, I found a pile of hair, dust, and bits of trash underneath. The bathroom had a rusty towel rack, a shower head fixed too close to the wall that I had to remove to use, and a crooked toilet seat. Budget price, serious hygiene problems.

The room was a little small, but it had a kiblat and space to pray, so don’t worry about that. The toilet was clean and came with shower gel, and the staff were really friendly and nice. It’s near town, including pantai klebang and jonker walk, so it’s a good budget option if you’re going with friends.

Jonker and Melaka town are nearby, but the hygiene was poor and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The toilet was filthy, there was no toilet paper, mineral water, or tissue, and the floor and floor mat were dirty. The room also had a funky smell, and basic items were missing.
