Elmark Hotel Malacca

We booked the family room at Elmark Hotel Melaka while in town with friends for a wedding in Bemban. There were three of us, and the room was spacious, which was nice. It was also really hot. We had a corner room with a huge curtained glass window, which was manageable, but the aircond wasn’t cold at all. I don’t know when it was last serviced. We asked to move, but the hotel was fully booked, so we had to stay there. The toilet was okay, the water pressure so-so, and the sink tap pretty bad. It would help to provide some basics, like hangers, a rubbish bin, and tissue. When I asked at the front desk about hangers, he said they don’t normally provide them, but kindly checked other rooms and found some for us. Thanks for making the effort! Despite all that, we slept comfortably and rested well after a tiring day. At around RM111, it still felt worth it for a short stay. Maybe with budget-friendly prices you can’t expect too much lah 😄

By midnight we were so exhausted that we had no option but to drive all the way back to Kuala Lumpur. The room still wasn't ready when we returned at 11:30 PM, even though we'd checked in at 4:30 and been told by the woman at the desk to come back at 5. Nobody contacted us in between. At reception, a male staff member said there was no water to clean the room. He didn't offer any help and acted like it wasn't his problem, then asked why I was angry. I hadn't raised my voice. Was he looking for a fight? I just wanted to rest, not gaduh like a gangster. I recorded the whole conversation because the many bad Google reviews had already made me uneasy. We'd only given the hotel a chance because it was a holiday period, everywhere else seemed full, and we'd seen the negative reviews. I regret that decision. The poor communication and service made the stay stressful from start to finish. Please think twice before booking here.

A basic two-star place, and most things were fine, but the disco clubs right beside the hotel were a nightmare. Rock and hip-hop music carried on loudly until around 4 or 5 in the morning. If you're driving a long way the next day, don't expect much sleep.

We only found out after reaching Melaka in the morning that the hotel had cancelled our reservation because of a water supply problem. We'd booked through Agoda about two weeks earlier for a family trip, with two adults and two children. Since it was a peak holiday period, finding somewhere else to stay was really difficult. The last-minute news caused a lot of stress and disappointment, and we ended up driving back to Seremban around midnight just to sleep before leaving for Penang.
