Just looking for a cheap bed for one night with no extras? The price might suit you. If you care about a comfortable night's sleep and decent basics, avoid this place. I'm not coming back. It needs a complete revamp. We were on level 5. The deluxe rooms are 22sqm, with rooms 30-40 in the left annex and 40-50 in the right. The two sides are very different: the left was awful, with dirty carpet, stained towels and stains everywhere, and housekeeping was nowhere near good enough. The right side was a little better, but still below standard. The male housekeeping team didn't seem at all meticulous. The door locks were another mess. We changed rooms after the card reader failed. In the first replacement they changed the scanner battery, but it still didn't work. The second room let us in at first, then failed the next day. The technician blamed the battery again. The building feels eerie and neglected. The New Jonker Fashion Street shopping area is gone, leaving an empty walkway to the lobby on level 3. Parking entrance is at the front of Hatten Hotel. And this property is no longer under Hatten Group. Don't take the four-star Google reviews as a sign that it's good. To me, it was zero-star quality.

The room corners and inside the cupboards had quite a bit of dust, so housekeeping could be more thorough. The receptionist could also have been a little more welcoming. Still, we had a pleasant stay and would come back to Malacca. The two-bedroom suite was excellent value, with an ensuite bathroom in each room. Most staff were friendly and helpful, especially the woman at the ground-floor restaurant.

The bathroom leak really affected our stay. We reported it, but nobody offered to move us. They gave us a towel to put under the closet and never followed up. For a hotel at this level, that response was disappointing. The room had a lovely view, and the location was the best part, close to just about everything for sightseeing and getting food. Breakfast was okay, nothing special but enough to start the day. With better maintenance and follow-up on guest concerns, the place could be much more enjoyable.

The location is excellent, with malls, Jonker Street, night markets and attractions all within walking distance. Restaurants, convenience shops and pharmacies are right across the road. The rooms aren't new, and the shower area had mold, so cleanliness could be better. We first arrived around 1 pm to ask about early check-in. The front desk didn't even greet us, just bluntly said check-in was at 3. When we asked whether we could register first, she raised her voice and repeated the same thing. We came back at 2:45 and were helped by a different receptionist, who was friendly and polite and processed the check-in quickly.
