Hotel Hong at Jonker Street

We spent four nights here, two downstairs and two upstairs. We arrived very late, but following the prearranged self check-in instructions was easy. The downstairs bed was clean and very comfortable. The shower had warm water, and hot and cold water were available in the hallway. The only downside was the window facing a car park, so we had to keep the blind down. The upstairs twin room was smaller, and those beds weren’t as comfortable. We wouldn’t have known the difference if we hadn’t stayed downstairs first. It still had a good warm shower and water available in the hall. The location is ideal. Turn left at the front door and it’s a 4/5 minute walk to Jonker street. If you turn right, there’s a bridge over the river and a walk down to dutch square. There’s also an excellent food court to the right before the bridge. An early night wasn’t disturbed. We had an excellent stay and would’ve stayed longer if the hotel hadn’t been busy.

There was no free parking. The nearby lot cost an extra RM20, which brought the total above RM100+. At that price I could have stayed somewhere much better, with cleaner facilities and proper parking. The blanket also had several stains I couldn’t identify, which made the stay uncomfortable and unacceptable. It didn’t feel worth what I paid.

The hotel is basic, but it was really clean, just as other reviews said. I stayed recently with my family and felt safe thanks to the keycard security and front desk staff. It’s quiet, so we slept well. Highly recommended for the price and location.

The room was clean, but so cramped we couldn’t fit our bags properly. Noise was the bigger problem. After 1 a.m. it was still loud outside, with singing, a dog barking, and firecrackers going off right beside the hotel. The sound was so startling my body moved, and we couldn’t sleep in the lobby.
