The loft’s a lovely blend of history and style, and the host was wonderful. After more than a year on the road, this is one of the places that’s stayed with us most. I can’t imagine a better stay in Melaka.

You can get to Jonker Street on foot in about seven minutes, and the Melaka River and a bridge are right beside the loft. It has a classic Malaya feel and works well for a group of six or seven. I did find it expensive compared with other hotels, so I wouldn’t want to stay long. There’s no iron or parking, and I hurt myself because some of the design, especially the marble soap counter, wasn’t ergonomic.

The host was so kind and helpful, and the sightseeing location is really convenient. It felt cosy, almost like our own flat, with a little kitchen and beds that gave us plenty of privacy. Everything was brand new and very clean. Fully recommend it!

It’s quiet at night and still only about a ten-minute walk from Jonker Street. Great location, with a really friendly, helpful host.
