It’s easy to get to other tourist spots from this very central location. The room was spacious and basic, and it was cleaned and topped up well, but the towels urgently need replacing. The in-house phone was broken, and noise came through the wall between connecting rooms. Breakfast was affordable, though ordinary. There should be more fruit, and they shouldn’t serve cordial juice. Some cutlery was stained and not properly clean, so I had to polish it myself. The gym was old and a bit smelly, and its equipment needs refurbishing.

We spent our days out exploring the city, so we didn’t try the meals. The people were very nice, though, and offered to help arrange luggage storage after checkout. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, and the location gave us a river view. The river cruise departure point was only a short walk away.

The staff’s professional service stood out. The hotel is well placed for local eateries and shopping malls, all within walking distance. The aircon control was a little noisy, and the TV couldn’t connect to the internet, though the Wi-Fi itself worked fine.

Breakfast was crowded enough that finding a seat was difficult, and I’d have liked more variety. It would also be nice if the restaurant served dinner at night for anyone wanting a late meal. That said, the stay went smoothly, with a lovely view, a good location, and a room quiet enough for restful sleep. Check-in and checkout were quick, the staff efficient, Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and hot water was always available. Great comfort overall, and I’d come back.

The room size was generous, but problems across our two rooms made the family stay tiring instead of restful. We booked both in the same category, yet one had a damaged manual lock and the other lacked a shower glass partition, so water kept spreading over the bathroom floor. We used bath towels to contain it, as the photos show. Our requested extra bed wasn’t ready either, and we had to go back to the front desk to ask for it. Housekeeping fell short as well. Toiletries and towels weren’t replenished, and the rooms still hadn’t been serviced by 5.30pm. The hotel may have been very busy, but the room care and readiness issues seriously affected our comfort. We had deliberately stepped away from our usual loyalty brands, GHA, Hilton and others, to try Swiss-Garden Hotel Melaka during a family trip. The service and room problems let us down from the start. We wouldn’t recommend it, and were genuinely looking forward to checking into our next hotel the following morning for a better experience.
