Brighton Inn & Camping Resort

It's tucked away from the city's noise beside a tiny beach, and I had a great stay. The rooms are very simple, but I liked the mattresses. There's a microwave and water filter, and the staff were kind and welcoming.

I really liked the view and atmosphere. The bathrooms and toilets are shared, but there are six of them, so it wasn't a concern. At night there was a busker performing by the beach, and guests can sing too if they feel like it. I stayed one night, for two days. No one was at the check-in counter except security, and the guard told me to call to check in. That went smoothly, and I had to pay a RM50 deposit. Lockers are available if you have a lot of belongings. Staff will open one so you can store valuables like laptops and documents. Solo travelers should be ready to share a room with strangers.

For the price and amenities, this could have been a great deal, and the place has a lot of potential. But the staff's lack of professionalism, especially the manager's, could leave travelers with a bad memory. They sold a non-refundable room that had already been booked to someone else, then apparently blamed the booking system. Booking.com and Agoda may want to stop working with this place until the issue is fixed, since it could hurt their reputation.

An entry alarm kept beeping for two days, and management didn't fix it. It made sleeping difficult. I was also offended when the manager secretly filmed me getting into a GRAB, along with the cleaning lady getting into the back seat. I was giving her a ride to the Chinese celebration near where she lives. She showed me the video the manager had taken and posted in the employee chat. I was especially concerned because there was a CCD camera near the bathroom.
