Meritz Hotel

The person handling our booking and wedding details was good during the planning, but the day itself was very poorly run. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and the execution fell far short of what we expected from Meritz Hotel. We had 50 banquet tables, including four vegetarian tables placed in a row. We gave the exact table numbers and confirmed the arrangement with the hotel, yet the first dish served to those tables contained meat. Some tables hadn’t received their first dish, while others got both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The coordination and attention to detail were seriously lacking. Our event was due to start at 6:00 PM, as the hotel knew, and the invitation cards it printed said the same. At 5:45 PM, the team was still rehearsing. Guests were already arriving, and when we asked for water to be served, staff seemed confused. They appeared unprepared despite having the schedule in advance. We’d hired an outside vendor for sound and lighting. The groom and his team have experience with this, and we tested the equipment at full capacity during rehearsal, then checked it again around 4:00 PM. But shortly before 6:00 PM, while the kitchen was operating, the power tripped. We couldn’t use the lighting we’d invested significantly in for the event. When we brought it up, the response felt like they were shifting responsibility instead of solving the problem. During the banquet, servers were often nowhere around when needed. Guests had to pour their own water, and the jugs were empty. Basic service standards weren’t met.
