Muarar 99 Hotel

I was very happy with the room and thought the hotel facilities and hygiene were good. Reception was friendly, and check-in and check-out were easy. Parking was simple too. Everything is nearby, so you can walk to find food at night. Wifi is provided. Worth staying here in Muar.

The family room was spacious, clean, and set up for a stay, including a kettle for making drinks. From one side we could see the sunset, and from the other, the sunrise. It’s easy to walk to the town center, and local eating centers are just behind the hotel. The corridor carpet, though, is a bit old and off-colour.

The location is handy, with many eateries nearby, and the counter service is good. There’s also room service, which was useful. The aircon and heater worked okay, but the rest was disappointing. Room 715 had a lingering cigarette smell, so avoid it. Wifi in rm 707 was bad, and it was generally unstable. The TV was poor, with only 5-6 channels, all Malaysia channels except for one Chinese/English channel. There’s no safe or fridge, which I thought was fundamental, so mil couldn’t keep her insulin. For a 2 star hotel, don’t expect much. The entrance ramp is too steep, and there’s no lift from the carpark to the lobby. Mil had to climb 17 or 18 steps. The hotel is NOT wheelchair or elderly friendly. Generally Muar is NOT wheelchair friendly.

DREADFUL. We were on the 4th floor, and at 2am loud vehicle noise was still coming from outside without stopping. It was louder than anything I’ve heard at any other hotel. We asked to move rooms, but reception said it wouldn’t make a difference because the hotel sits at the intersection of two 2 main roads. Even if you aren’t very sensitive to noise, the volume will surprise you. If you don’t mind being extremely tired the next day from lack of sleep, go ahead with this hotel.
