Mye Hotel Muar

Getting around Muar is easy from here, since the hotel’s location helps you avoid heavy traffic. Too bad the rooms have declined in quality over the years. Every time I stay, there’s something I end up complaining about.

My room was clean, and I really like the design, so I’d stay again. I didn’t mind the karaoke noise, though I can see how it would bother some people. One thing, the iron could use a simple how-to guide. Some guests may not know how to use it, and I was also left a bit puzzled 😅 The hotel is quite far from town, so a Grab can cost up to RM10 outside peak hours. It’s easy enough to find a ride, but be ready to choose Standard Plus or above 😊 There’s a food shop beside the hotel, but it only opens at 4pm and is quite expensive.

The man was friendly and polite, and his service was okay. At checkout, though, the woman wasn’t very friendly. I told her there were cockroaches in the room, and she just said, “Oh, is that so?” WTH? There were cockroaches, but she didn’t seem to take it seriously. I got a video of a baby roach. The adult one hid under the bed, so I couldn’t film it. I won’t stay at this hotel again.

The room was quite large but had no window, which we hadn’t expected. It was generally clean, with a modern, well-equipped bathroom, strong water pressure and good hot water. The air conditioning worked very well, with no rattling, noise or leaks. Furnishings were sparse, but fine for a short stay. The linen may not feel like enough for the price, though I can’t complain too much. We heard some noise from next door and the club downstairs, but it stayed reasonably quiet. We’d driven all the way from KL to Muar, or Muo as they say in Johor, for a wedding, so we stayed the night. The hotel is on Muar Bypass Road, a little outside town, in a small block of shoplots with a cafe/club on the ground floor next door. It’s a good place to stop, rest and sleep.
