Coral Bay Resort

I work in the service industry, and some staff here were extremely rude and unprofessional toward customers. When I asked for smaller notes for my deposit refund, I was told the only choices were one RM50 note or one RM100 note. The way she spoke to me was disrespectful and impolite, with none of the basic courtesy or customer service you'd expect. I booked a stay during Haji, with arrival on 31/5/2026, but the check-in staff were extremely unreliable. Checkout was supposed to be at 12 noon, yet by 1500 they still hadn't finished, leaving us waiting to check in. The process was extremely inefficient and very disappointing. I'm writing this while still waiting to check in. I ask management to investigate and provide appropriate compensation for the time lost and mental suffering. @coralbayresort

The restaurant food was quite good. Our company trip included three meals, with seafood and meat for lunch and dinner. The food was halal and Malay-cooked, and tasted really good. The salad would have looked more appealing if staff had removed the rotten cherry tomatoes and vegetables. The hotel itself isn't very impressive, and it needs a lot of work to maintain its three-star standing. It's a long-established place, but many facilities are worn out and need attention: the centralized air conditioning in the rooms can't be adjusted, there's no safe, and the furniture is aging. The loose sink cover could cause injury, and the clogged toilet bowl was indecent. Pool lights were loose and hanging at the side, a terrible sight and a possible safety hazard. The main lobby felt stuffy, without enough air conditioning or seating for the number of guests. I hope management takes this seriously, as tourism on this small island has limited customers and is challenging.

The pool looked all right at first, but it was often crowded and people smoked openly around it. It didn't feel family friendly, and the water seemed unclean. The kitchen area also looked unhygienic, which left me doubting the food quality. The resort isn't very close to the beach either. Our room was extremely old and poorly maintained. There was a damp smell, and we saw cockroaches. The beds and blankets felt dirty and made us itch, possibly because of insects. The bathroom was in terrible shape, with a bad flush, broken fittings, and poor hygiene. This was one of my worst hotel stays. The place might suit groups who want to drink and party, but not families or travelers looking for comfort and cleanliness. Even discounted rates or coupons aren't worth it. I'd suggest avoiding it and choosing one of Pangkor's cleaner options. Poor hospitality, unclean rooms, and an unpleasant experience. 1/5.
