We booked the place for 4 days and 3 nights, and after the deposit was paid we were told we couldn't put up a canopy, tables, or chairs for our family gathering. The promotion banner had made it seem suitable for an engagement and BBQ, so that felt misleading. We had to arrange meals for six family members somewhere outside the homestay. The house wasn't clean. We saw cockroaches and ants, and the surrounding area was poorly kept, with nowhere suitable for children to play on the verandah or grass. There was no microwave to reheat food and no water heater in the shower. We stayed three nights, but were complained to right away when a light was left on for a second day. If a towel or other item is missing, it might have been picked up by a family member, yet the owner can still deduct it from the deposit. If guests aren't welcome, this place shouldn't be offered as a homestay. We often stay in homestays in Malacca, Putrajaya, Penang, Alor Setar, and Sabah, and have never had these problems before.

The house was clean and in great shape, and the staff were good too. It's close to Pasir Gudang town, with all the necessities and appliances in good condition. The four bedrooms were a real plus. I'd happily stay here again in the future.

The house itself was dirty, with insects around, a smelly toilet, and water leaking in the messy kitchen. There was old food and medicine left in the fridge by a previous guest. The outdoor area looked even worse, and its condition wasn't shown in the photos. The person handling check-in messages was unprofessional. She called herself a personal assistant but just forwarded the owner's silly messages. The owner complained about too many things before returning the deposit, so take photos of every area after you check in. I felt scammed. They also claimed there was a water heater, but there wasn't one. They even had the nerve to call the customer bad-mannered.

What made me most angry was that the host waited until halfway through the travel day to WhatsApp my husband about there being no TV and the living room air conditioner being broken. I'd booked a week ahead. That didn't feel honest, and by then finding another place would've been hard. They only knocked RM30 off the RM350 price. There were plenty of other problems. The master bedroom's air conditioner wasn't cold, and its bathroom had no water heater. The kitchen cabinets smelled of cockroaches, the outside floor was black, and the cleanliness was really unsatisfactory. In the master bedroom, only one power socket worked. I didn't even have the energy to check for anything else.
