Aroma Hotel

I was there for two days. For a three-star hotel, it was still okay, and the room was clean and tidy. They’d put in a new air conditioner as well. The location gets a 10/10 from me, with lots of tasty food nearby and plenty of restaurants.

The location is good, with food and entertainment spots all around. Inside, though, there’s plenty to improve. The toilet and furniture are old and have an unpleasant smell. The air conditioner keeps switching itself on and off, the room is dim, and the bed is uncomfortable with a slight dip in the middle. Housekeeping should avoid gathering and talking loudly outside guest rooms.

There are lots of restaurants and pubs nearby, as well as vegetarian stalls. Food runs about RM7-RM30 per plate or set, and the room cost RM200-RM250 in peak season. I’d call the location and security good, and overall the stay was good. Comfort was satisfactory. The rooms were reasonably clean and had both air conditioning and a fan. A friend’s door wouldn’t lock, and staff found the lock battery was weak. The toilet towels felt quite thin, and no toothbrush was provided.

This is a business hotel with accommodation only and no other amenities. It’s near Permatang Pauh industrial Park, and Raja Uda eateries are within walking distance, with plenty of lunch and dinner options. There are also quite a few pubs around, so music might be disturbing. You can ask reception for a room farther from a pub when checking in. The room was old, and we found lots of ants during our two-night stay. Lighting wasn’t enough for working at night. Management could consider adding at least a table lamp.
