Sebana Cove Resort

It’s a quiet and very comfortable hotel about a two-hour drive from Singapore. Everyone we’ve met here has been kind, helpful, and friendly, as has been true of Malaysians we’ve encountered so far. There seem to be very few visitors, and I’m a little puzzled why the hotel is struggling. If you want peace and quiet, with the pool, cove, wildlife, and food, this could suit you.

We booked at the last minute for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and had a lovely, calm stay. The place has a charming feel, very High School Musical 2, iykyk. We were happy just relaxing, since there isn’t much else to do. The kids’ pool was warm, which is nice for little ones. Just keep in mind room service takes its last kitchen order at 9:30 pm. After that you’ll need to drive out for food, since delivery doesn’t reach here or most of Desaru. A spa would be a nice addition.

The big, well-kept pool was lovely, and the room was clean with strong Wi-Fi. The view from the balcony was fantastic, with greenery all around, and it’s a cosy, quiet place if you’re after calm. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast didn’t have much choice, but it tasted good. There isn’t much recreation. The entertainment outlet closed during Covid and hasn’t reopened, so nights can feel boring. It gets very dark after dark, especially around the parking area, and that felt a bit scary. There’s bike rental and a games room, and you can jog or take a brisk walk around the resort. A place like this should have a recreation department. Would I return? Maybe yes.

We were really pleased with the cosy room and the peaceful, relaxing setting. Syahmi at the front desk treated us well, and we appreciated Syakib from FnB helping with our request. Chef Azizun also made us a tempting vegetarian breakfast, which impressed us. Every staff member we met was polite and professional. I’d recommend this resort, especially for vegetarian guests.
