The Oikos Hotel

For one night it was pretty good, and the clean room was comfortable. Mine had a window facing the back and cost RM140. Space was limited, as with other newer hotels of this rating, and there was no wardrobe. At first there wasn't even toilet paper. No tea or coffee was supplied, and there was no water heater for making drinks. The basics were towels, shower gel, and shampoo. The hotel is right by the waterside facing the SEA. Chinese restaurants and one Malay restaurant are within walking distance at night, and the Chinese restaurant serves beer.

Most of the service was smooth and helpful. I checked in on the 1st May, then went to the counter on the 2nd May to extend my stay, and the customer service team handled it easily. Even around 9pm, staff were friendly, chatted, suggested food, and helped with Grab. But at around 11:40pm on 2hb May, a new CS staff member starting her shift spoke to me rudely and sarcastically. Because of that service, I give 3 stars. The staff could be trained in how to speak to and handle customers, or learn from the people working on 1st May and 2nd May, who had a much better attitude and knew how to treat customers.

You don't need a fancy hotel with facilities when there's plenty to see nearby. The fish market is an easy walk away and is one of my favourite spots to buy and eat fresh seafood. I also enjoyed the peaceful coastal walk, with seafront dining and views. The hotel itself is cosy and clean, the staff are friendly, and there are lots of good, reasonably priced places to eat around it.

For one night, the price seemed acceptable. There's a beach, eateries, and an eco shop nearby. I arrived late at night, but check-in was hassle free. Late checkout cost RM10, and I checked out at 12.30pm. The air conditioning is centralized, so you can't adjust it yourself.
