OYO 1136 PD Star Hotel

The toilet was much cleaner than the rest of the room, and the AC and water heater worked well. But the room felt like it had a lot more potential than the hotel had bothered to make use of. The bed headboard was tilted, and both the bedsheet and comforter cover looked dirty. The TV was just for show because its wire had been cut. No toiletries were supplied. There was a musty smell as soon as I opened the entrance door. We had to take the stairs to our room on level 2. The same small-tile flooring, with dirty grout, ran along the walkway and into the room. I didn't want to walk barefoot there. A carpet would have made it more comfortable. We were lucky to find a room because other places were full, but we won't come back unless they improve.

For RM90.00 a night, I didn't feel this place was worth it. After I checked in, a few people came asking for rooms. They were told none were available, although there were rooms that hadn't been tidied up yet. I wasn't satisfied with the hotel's service. We were told at the lobby that we had to pay extra, even though I'd already paid in full through Agoda. The explanation was that OYO had listed a lower price without the hotel's consent. I paid the amount they asked because I didn't want to risk looking for another hotel. They could have contacted customers about the price difference beforehand. Instead, the lady told me to call the hotel to confirm the price. We'd already paid what we saw online! There were piles of bedsheets in the lobby, and I couldn't tell whether they were clean. The hotel has no elevator, which was okay, but our bedsheet and blanket had stains and smelled really bad, like previous guests had used them. When I complained, the lady spoke to a male staff member, who muttered in Tamil as if I were staying for free. I had to get a towel from the lobby counter too. Wi-Fi was extremely slow, the TV didn't work, and there was no hot water. At least the AC was good. Please think carefully before staying here.

The receptionist was nice and explained everything to us, from A to Z. I can imagine she has to do that every day. Still, it was strange that she seemed surprised when we showed her Agoda's listing and even took a photo of it. She said they had been contacting OYO for a long time to end their contract, and had also contacted Agoda to change the descriptions. If this had been going on for so long, why act surprised by the listing? The photos there looked very clean, but that wasn't what we found. There were no toiletries except one hard bar of soap, and we had to ask the receptionist for a towel. The balcony had cigarette butts, the mirror barely showed your reflection, and there was no hair dryer. There was also no AC remote. I had the flu, and they seemed to expect me to change the temperature with telekinesis. The TV remote was in bad condition. The listing price on Agoda was higher than the original price, and the receptionist said this was a budget hotel and no longer under OYO. If you add Rm50, you can get a golf resort. That's where we stayed after trying to get our money back. Agoda's app says they'll help and that HR will try to resolve the issue, or the team will refund you if the full refund isn't approved. In the end, they refunded us only Rm8. What is that? A scam? Lol. Most of their Agoda service staff are Indian, and I'm sure the service is based in India. It's also known for scamming. We had all the evidence: a dead cockroach, hair from previous customers on the dirty bedsheet, no toiletries, and a dirty balcony. Still, the refund was Rm8. Anyway, enough venting. The toilet was clean, but the soap they provided had a smell I'd never come across before, even in budget hotels. The room was noisy at night, and I could hear outside sounds clearly, almost as if the windows were open. At the hotel opposite, the outside noise was minimal. Black ants were all over the floor and on the beds. I cleaned the ones on the bed, but while I was sleeping they started crawling back up, so I had to remove them again. The comforter had a small stain, which was still okay. The AC wasn't cool enough after 30 minutes. I sent my daughter to complain, and the receptionist gave her another remote. Apparently, if the AC isn't cold enough, you're supposed to use the spare remote to make it cooler. The TV showed "tiada isyarat". Reception said the signal sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but I tried through the next day and there was no signal at all. Maybe the TV is just decoration. I arrived at 12:30 pm, but the reception desk was empty, with a note to call the person in charge. Even if a room isn't occupied, check-in is only at 2 pm. So my advice is to arrive at 2 pm, since nobody will be there if you come early. I wouldn't recommend this for a family.
