OYO 90196 Midori Homestay

The BBQ stove hadn't been cleaned, and the water heater wasn't working properly!

Getting help was a problem throughout our stay. We couldn't reach reception by phone, and our WhatsApp message stayed on one tick with no reply. After a full day touring Kundasang, we ran into all of these issues in the evening, when the staff were unreachable and unreliable. The water was murky from both the kitchen tap and the toilets, so we had to shower in it. Rain also came through leaks by the kitchen door ceiling and the toilets. The water heater didn't work at all, and we had to heat water on the cooking stove. That ran out of gas, so we used the kettle to warm water for our babies' baths. We had already bought ingredients to cook, but couldn't use the stove and had to find another, less convenient way. The house smelled stale and unpleasant when we arrived, perhaps because it's an old house with old things. The rooms weren't well maintained: dust on the room, curtains, and bedsheets, a badly stained wall, and a broken window handle. The Wi-Fi was poor, which was especially unhelpful with weak cell coverage. There was no shelf inside the fridge. The TV had no remote apart from the Njoi one; when we reported it, staff said the TV remote was broken and offered no solution. This is the worst homestay we've stayed in so far. I'm writing this so Midori Homestay can improve soon, hopefully ASAP.

The water supply stopped at about 5pm and didn't come back until the next day. A couple of young reception staff came to check the tank, but it wasn't properly dealt with. Luckily, family staying at a nearby homestay let us use their bathroom to shower. I had to bathe my baby with mineral water.

There was no Wi-Fi, and they didn't provide soap or bath gel. The toilet wasn't maintained well, with a faulty flush tank, and the shower pressure was quite slow.
