Ranau Backpackers Hostel

We got a four-bed room through Agoda for RM98 a night, which was budget friendly. The place was clean and comfortable, with clean floors and beds, a clean shared toilet, and cold air conditioning. It's good for backpackers with dorms available, and for groups too, with books and card games like Uno and Monopoly. There's an iron, and the nights were peaceful and quiet. The location in town is convenient. Wifi was available but weak in the room. Reception is only open during office hours and unavailable after 5 pm, and finding the upstairs entrance was difficult. Even so, I'd recommend staying here and would come back on my next visit to Ranau town.

We seemed to have the place to ourselves and didn't see or hear anyone else. The beds were comfy and everything was clean. Reception hours are 8 am to 5 pm, but that was fine for us, and they kindly let us check in at noon. Dogs outside howled and barked all night. That wasn't the hotel's fault, and I'm not sure anywhere in Ranau would avoid the same issue, so bring earplugs.

The room was cozy, with a spot outside to relax and a few corners worth taking photos of. It had a queen bed and a few basic things, and was quite small, but that didn't bother me since I only needed a place to sleep. The security here is especially good.

Right in the middle of town, this is a budget place. My room with an attached bathroom cost RM65 and was clean and in good order. Parking nearby was easy to find in the evening, or, if you're on a bike like me, you can leave it by the front door. Entry is by swipe card, and it feels safe.
