The lodge has a lovely scenic view, and it’s a nice place to stay. Getting in is the problem: the road is steep and poorly maintained. The sign could be bigger too, so first-time visitors can spot it more easily.

The room isn’t soundproof, so I could hear my neighbor snoring. They also really need to sort out the cleanliness. I like that it’s cheap and close to the main road, though I think the road needs some work. Would I come again? YES, because it’s cheap. Would I recommend it to someone else? NO, takut it might not suit them.
The price and location are acceptable, but my husband and I were disturbed by the couple staying next door. They were still making a lot of noise at 1:30am, laughing loudly and walking around, while we were trying to rest. I can accept noise if it’s still early, but that was already 1:30am and they didn’t seem to care. Please warn tenants who want to rent.
For the cheapest price, you get a great view of Mount Kinabalu, and the room was okay. But the road up to the house was super steep 😭. We were driving a Mitsubishi Xpander, not a 4WD, and the rain made the road so slippery that getting back to the main road was quite a hassle. We almost gave up. The next day we left the car on the main road near the laundry bar.
The mountain view is the one thing this lodge has going for it, but the place needs a lot of work. Cleanliness matters much more to me than how a room looks, and this one was dirty when I arrived. There were lizard droppings in the bathroom and on the floor, and a hole in the wall behind the door had been patched with cellophane tape. The online photos showed a modest bed, side table, wall fan, and bathroom, which would have been fine by me. I paid RM118 per night including tax, far too much for what was provided. I’d have been willing to pay RM50 a night. I was so grossed out that I quickly drove around the area to find somewhere else, and I did. The Hills Kundasang cost RM163 per night, only slightly more, but the difference in quality, comfort, facilities, and cleanliness was way too stark. I booked there, went back to get my bags, and checked out. The receptionist was surprised. I politely said the room was unsatisfactory, to say the least, and that I didn’t need a refund since I’d already paid in full. I realized while writing this that I should’ve taken photos of all the lizard droppings. I’m reminding myself not to skimp on accommodation just because it costs slightly less.
