Hotel Raub 勞勿大旅店 1968

We ride motorcycles around the world, so we know plans can fall apart for reasons nobody expected. We had to cancel our Hotel Raub booking one day before arrival and gave the hotel a clear, verifiable reason. We knew the cancellation policy, didn’t use the room, and politely asked if they could waive the charge. They showed no willingness to work with us or offer any flexibility. That rigid response felt deeply unfair and disappointing, as though enforcing the rules mattered more than our circumstances. It was enough for us to leave a one-star review on Google Maps and Booking. After we posted the review, Hotel Raub offered to refund half the overnight cost, €13, as a gesture of “goodwill.” We declined. They hadn’t tried to accommodate us before the review went public, so the offer felt like a half-hearted effort to manage the criticism, not a serious resolution. We wanted the matter handled properly, and felt it was all or nothing. A few days later a refund did arrive, but it was €1.97, not the promised half. To us, that was humiliating and showed pure contempt for the guest. Hotel Raub should be deeply ashamed.

The location is handy, with a 7-11 store just across the road. Staff were amiable and nice, and dealt with our needs promptly. My room was spacious and had a private toilet, hairdryer, soap, and slippers. The toilet, towels, and sheets were clean, and I didn’t spot a single insect. One thing to know if you’re on the top floor, you can hear the water tank pumping.

At RM119 a night, the deluxe king room was spacious, basically clean and comfortable, and the hotel sits right in central raub. There’s also a refundable RM100 deposit. The main drawbacks are the stairs and parking: there’s no lift or ground-floor room, so everyone has to carry their own luggage upstairs. Only three parking spaces are available, first come, first served.
