One of the coolest places I’ve stayed on my travels. Redang Campstay has the vibe for a full island experience, right on a beautiful beach with clear water. Falling asleep to the peaceful sound of the waves was amazing. I’d recommend it to any backpacker, a must-visit.

There was a kitchen where we could make our own meals, which felt just like home. Bring instant food and snacks for when you first arrive, plus coffee, tea, and other hot drink supplies. You’ll also need your own toiletries, such as shampoo, soap, conditioner, and toothbrush. Water shoes are a good idea for enjoying the seabed safely, because there are lots of corals and protective footwear helps prevent injuries. When we checked in there were only a couple of people, and it felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. The sea was full of sea cucumbers, and the white sand was pristine and very clean. The campstay was magical, and time went by so quickly that we wished we could stay longer.
A calm, lovely, comfortable spot, especially for families and kids. The bathrooms were clean, the cooking facilities were all provided, and the staff were warm and helpful. Waking up to the sunrise right in front of you is amazing.
The people who run this place are the nicest, and they built it themselves. We had a great time and would happily stay again. It’s a little hidden paradise. The tents were clean and kept us dry in rain, and the firm mattresses were comfortable. You’re right on the beach, so you can snorkel just steps from your tent. There are lots of shaded places to relax, a full kitchen, and free drinking water. The cafe serves delicious home-cooked Western and Malaysian food for breakfast and dinner. There’s also a water taxi to island sights, a charging station, and a fridge is coming soon. Long Beach is a 15-minute walk away, or you can take the water taxi for RM15. There are no fans or AC, as you’d expect with camping, and the showers are cold. It was so hot that I didn’t feel a hot shower was needed. The charging station is solar powered, so after cloudy mornings you might need to wait a bit for power.
Our group of 20 had a wonderful time at Redang Camp, Pulau Redang. The tents were great to sleep in, and the campsite, toilets, and other facilities were clean. The kitchen was spotless and fully equipped, so cooking dinner, BBQ, breakfast, and lunch was easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. The beach view was stunning. We went snorkeling and were thrilled to see turtles, colorful fish, and coral. An unforgettable experience, and I’d highly recommend this well-kept campsite.
