The location is good, and the room was clean with an okay bathroom. The hostel itself is fine, though the rooms are nothing special. We were given large towels instead of a blanket or duvet, unfortunately.

After 6pm, Prima feels pretty quiet. The staff were great, and they arranged a desk for me to work at when I asked. The toilet could be cleaner and the wifi is less than ideal, but it’s still good value overall. If you’re okay with those bathroom and wifi shortcomings, support the business.
Really lovely people and incredible customer service. The room had everything I needed, and getting into Sandakan was easy.
The room was nothing fancy, but it was clean, and breakfast was okay as long as you don’t expect too much. You can tell the staff put a lot of care into the place. They’re super friendly and welcoming, help with just about anything, and have plenty of tips for things to do. One of my favorite stays.
The owner was very welcoming and even takes a photo of each guest to put on the walls. This is a good no-frills place for a fair price, centrally located between sepilok and the sea, so day trips in either direction are easy. The shared bathroom was fine while we were the only guests, though it could be less pleasant when the hotel is full. Shared areas such as the stairs could also be cleaner.
