Golden Lake Garden Hotel

The room and bathroom were quite good, and RM50 for one night felt worth it. I stayed for business. Call ahead to book since there are no hotel apps, and they seem to handle reservations the old-fashioned way.

The room, bed, toilet, and cleanliness were all fine, and the price was okay too. The water dispenser is only at the front desk, though, so from the third floor you have to go downstairs. There’s just one glass in the room, with no kettle or complimentary bottled water. Still, it was an okay stay.

The receptionist was a Malay guy with a good attitude, and the rest of the service was okay. I found rubbish hidden in the closet after checking in: a mandarin orange that looked about three weeks old and two beer cans. As a Muslim, I found that insulting, though I didn’t make much of it and just threw the cans away. The hotel wasn’t especially bad for someone like me who doesn’t fuss much.

The room is dated, and the air conditioning in room 106 didn’t cool well and needs servicing. Aside from that, I’d recommend this hotel for a night in segamat.
