Grace Hotel Semporna

It’s a budget-friendly hotel in a handy spot, very close to the seafood market and stalls. The room is decent and the staff are friendly. Breakfast included in the package is so-so, so I’d recommend eating elsewhere.

The staff aren’t professional. They took a photo of my identity information and sent it to my friends or relatives to tell them I was checking in. There’s no privacy. I’d recommend pacific inn hotel instead, where the staff and service are good and they keep personal matters separate from work.

The staff were patient and friendly, always helping when I needed something without complaining. That’s the only good thing about this hotel. It’s still the worst place I’ve ever stayed. I’m not picky about hotels and have stayed in 3-star places before, but none were this bad. I didn’t expect much, yet even basic facilities weren’t provided. The air con leaked, the shampoo holder and sink were broken, and the floor smelled awful and felt super oily. My boyfriend was disgusted as soon as we walked in. We asked the cleaner to wipe it three times, but they said the smell came from their cleaning chemical. On the fourth try they used a different detergent, and we had to dry the floor ourselves with the floor carpet before it felt cleaner. Cleanliness is a huge issue here. There was no shampoo, the TV had no channels, and when we asked for another floor carpet, they said there was no stock and we’d have to wait until the next day. The surroundings are nasty and breakfast was bad. I was extremely unsatisfied.

The location is awesome, within a five-minute walk of most good restaurants and diving gathering spots. The rooms need improvement: the safe doesn’t work and the bathroom is small. Still acceptable since we spent most of the day out at sea.
