Dining at Sembayu Villa can get pricey. Even two cans of drinks came close to RM40, so bringing your own snacks and drinks makes sense. Still, it was a peaceful, lovely stay, and I’d consider coming back. The room was spacious, and the clean private pool was calming. Loved the outdoor bathtub too, a great place for a soak surrounded by nature. A few small improvements could make this a 5-star experience.

This private villa has its own parking, and it’s quiet, tucked into nature, and great for switching off with a partner or a small group of friends. Just keep in mind it’s on a hilltop, with quite a lot of stairs and walking. It won’t suit elderly guests, wheelchair users, or people with baby strollers. There aren’t any convenience stores or food and drink outlets nearby, so plan ahead or order everything through the villa in advance. A good choice if you want privacy and calm and don’t mind slowing down and preparing ahead.

The room and surroundings seemed lovely, a peaceful escape from the city, so this was especially disappointing. On the Friday before my Monday check-in, Agoda called to say the hotel wanted to cancel my Christmas trip because of a water problem in the room. They had two days to fix the water heater, but instead wanted to cancel. The alternative they offered was a lower-tier room, and I’d have had to pay an extra RM 600 on top of my fully paid booking. Then they said the room was temporarily closed. Hotels usually have several rooms of the same type, so they could have put me in another one. And closing rooms in the last two weeks of 2025, the peak season of the year? Please find a better liar next time. Your customer isn’t stupid. I felt they didn’t want to honor my room because I’d booked it at a discount on Agoda. That’s dishonest, and it gave me a bad impression of the management’s integrity. Only after going back and forth with Agoda about how wrong this was did the hotel agree to honor my booking. They didn’t apologize or offer any compensation afterward, just acted like nothing had happened. I’d wanted to visit for a long time, but this was very disappointing. A discount doesn’t make me any less of a paying customer. If the hotel has a problem with discounts, it should take that up with Agoda or other third-party booking sites instead of trying to cancel a customer’s trip. I stay in hotels like this pretty often, and this is the worst one.

The team was warm and welcoming, and we loved the food. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, especially the mashed potatoes at tea break. The rooms were spacious, the beds super comfortable, and every room had breathtaking views. Set in a lush, green forest, this quiet villa is a lovely place to relax and reconnect with nature, a scenic drive east of Seremban. A morning hike at Gunung Berembun is worth doing. Bring snacks and drinks before heading up since there are no convenience stores nearby. It’d be great for a couple’s retreat, and it’s now on our list for future team-building getaways too.

The manager was accommodating, respectful, nice, and easy to talk to. It’s a tranquil, private, relaxing place that feels worth the time and money. They could improve the bathroom bidet by changing it to a press-and-spray type for better sanitation. The Wi-Fi was too weak inside rooms near the pool, and could use improvement. Food choices are limited but taste fine. If you’re only there for a few days, that should be all right.
