Salim Inn

The location is excellent, with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby and Farley easy to reach. The room itself was too hot because the air conditioner wasn’t working well. I also found blood on the bedsheets and a very dirty pillowcase, and there was a power trip during my stay. The staff were friendly and replaced the bedsheets quickly.

Salim Inn is still my first choice for a stop in Sibu, especially when I don’t need to be in the city centre. I’ve stayed here many times while driving between Kuching and Miri. It’s in the Salim district, with places to eat and shop an easy walk away. Parking has never been a problem, and walking works fine unless I need to go to the far side of Salim. On my latest trip, we booked one night, then my wife and I chose to stay another night instead of going to another part of town.

For a middle to low priced room, it’s good enough for sleeping and bathing, and I’d come back. The card key took about 3-4 tries before it opened the door, though, and the door made a motor-like brrr sound when I locked it. The price is good, so I wasn’t expecting much.

The rooms are clean, the beds are good, and they feel roomy. Staff service was decent, and they do clean the rooms. There’s no food service, unfortunately, but a coffee shop is next door and there are other places nearby too if you’re okay with walking a little.
