The Upper House Hotel

The way they handled the air conditioner problem was really poor. A technician spent almost an hour trying to fix it in my room instead of moving me straight away, so I couldn’t properly rest. They only changed my room after the repair didn’t work. The room was tiny for what I paid, and breakfast was the worst I’ve had. It felt like there wasn’t even a proper chef. Very unprofessional service when dealing with complaints.

The staff were really friendly, and there’s a bar and swimming pool on level 4. It’s handy for a short stay, with a convenience store, two laundries and Caltex nearby, plus Ikea and Decathon farther away. For a longer stay, I found the mattress uncomfortable. Breakfast is basic. The twin room is small, and the wash basin is outside the bathroom.

There’s no covered parking, and the spaces are very limited. The water heater also takes a while to get hot, and there aren’t many TV channels. They don’t provide bottled mineral water in the room, though there are refill stations on every floor. The fridge and electric jug kettle were faulty, and the staff, including at the front desk, weren’t very friendly. Everything else was in order.

At 9am the buffet was completely empty, with no food, plates, bowls, cups or cutlery left and nothing being refilled. Breakfast costs RM23 per person, and this really wasn’t worth it. They should prepare enough based on the number of breakfast vouchers for the day. I want a refund of RM23 x 4 pax. Everything else about the hotel was great.
