U Hotel Penang

I'm in Room 432, and this has been a third-class experience. The water pressure was so low yesterday and again today that I could barely shower. I had to check it before getting in, then come out mid-shower, call reception twice, and wait for maintenance to get the pressure back to normal. I'm on my period and had to wait five minutes inside just for them to turn the water on. I believe collecting a deposit under these circumstances is a management policy. The reception staff are fine, but deliberately reducing water pressure is something I've only associated with third-world countries where tenants don't pay rent. It shouldn't happen in a proper hotel, especially when a woman is staying alone. This is third class, and I've never experienced anything like it in any hotel in any country. I made a mistake extending my stay for another day.

The room was small, but comfortable and clean. For what I paid, I can't complain.

At check-in, the staff member who helped us said a separate receipt would be no problem and took down our details. But when I asked the receptionist for one this morning, they were dismissive and unhelpful, and even gave me a side-eye. I'm disappointed with the service. That attitude is unprofessional and unacceptable in hospitality, where guests should feel welcome and respected. I hope management takes this seriously and makes the needed improvements.

The place was comfortable and generally clean, and I appreciated having a full-length mirror in the room as a female guest. It was also conveniently less than 1 km from where I needed to go, at a reasonable price.
