Our room was spacious and cozy, with soft yellow lighting, a comfortable bed, a roomy toilet, and a water heater that worked well. The hotel also supplied the basics for a short stay: Nescafé coffee mix, tea, creamer, sugar, shampoo, shower gel, and toilet paper. The receptionist was polite, and RM98 for a queen room on the holiday weekend seemed like a good deal, possibly a promotion. We arrived late during the Deepavali public holiday weekend for just one night. Almost every room at Northern Hotel was booked, leaving us Room 105, a queen-bed room. There was no extra bed available that night because the hotel was full, though I think one may usually be offered when occupancy is lower. A few things needed attention: one power plug was broken, and there were reddish stains on the toilet bowl and floor. Toothbrushes would have been useful too. Still, it was a clean, comfortable, budget-friendly stay.

There are plenty of different places to eat nearby, and self-service laundry is close too. The hotel is nice and makes it easy to get around.

The room had a window, but it was locked and looked out onto the backyard roofing, so paying extra for it made no sense. I could clearly hear noise from other rooms, and the place felt poorly maintained. Without the strong-smelling air conditioning, the odor was unbearable. The corridor gave me the feeling of being in one of those movies, you know what I did. This should be called a motel, if anything.

For a two-star hotel, I can't complain. The room was clean and the bed was nice.
