This cottage felt abandoned and creepy. At night, the front door wasn’t even locked. The kitchen was especially messy, with old junk, food residue, and stale food left on the table; the fridge was full of useless, smelly things and didn’t work properly. The kettle took ages to boil, the bath heater didn’t work, and there was no water coming from the bathroom outlet. I don’t think the owner is taking care of the place: the grass was untrimmed and parts of the house were a mess.
