Kea Garden Guesthouse

Breakfast was a nice part of the stay: nasi lemak with good sambal, anchovies and nuts, fried and hard-boiled eggs, tea and coffee you could refill, colorful cereal for kids, and toast you make yourself. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel's location also made it easy to get to attractions in either direction, with Sheep Sanctuary just a short walk away. Parking can be tight while Kea Farm visitors are around, since they can use the lot for a fee. More spaces open up for hotel guests later in the evening as the crowds thin out. There was a water supply and pump problem, but the staff sorted it out quickly. The room and toilet need better ventilation to deal with the damp smell. Air conditioning isn't necessary, but a larger or wall-mounted fan could help move air and reduce dampness. The hardwood under the mattress could hurt children's feet or ankles, and needs some foot room. In the toilet, the tiles don't slope toward the floor drain, so water pools unnecessarily.

The location is excellent, with many points of interest nearby, but the room was poor. My ratings were 4/5 for location, 3/5 for service, 2/5 for the room, 1/5 for facilities and 2/5 for value, for a total of 12/25 and an average of 2.4/5. Parking was a major problem. The lot is limited and open to non-guests, so on several occasions I returned to find unrelated cars had taken every space. That was frustrating and made the place feel less secure and not well managed. The bathroom water doesn't drain toward the outlet and sits on the floor, and there was always a terrible sewage smell from it. The ceiling was moldy too.

Getting checked in and out was smooth, but for the price I don't think the stay was worth it. I booked a junior suite for 2 nights on the 3rd floor, and there's no lift. Parking is available if there's a space, at rm5 per entry, and non-hotel customers can use it too. On the first day the water suddenly stopped. They said it was under maintenance, and it took over an hour to fix. Cleanliness was 3/5, and the workers were all foreigners. The cleanliness and room facilities could both be improved.

No hanger, and the room was noisy enough that I could hear every conversation outside. There was also a constant buzzing or humming from somewhere. The toilet and room smelled, there was still hair on the floor, and the only fan was a dusty table fan. No air conditioning either.
