Rooms are clean, though a little worn at the edges, and some can sleep four comfortably. Ken, the service agent, gave great service and deserves a mention. It’s conveniently located and good value, with internet that’s adequate without being especially fast.

Straits Quay isn’t what it used to be. The bars were always there, but it used to be lively on weekends and calmer during the week. Now the party atmosphere seems to be taking over, which might suit weekend visitors but isn’t so great if you live there. With bars right beside each other playing loud music, it all turns into garbled noise. Maybe that’s why weekday occupancy is low.

There’s a grocery store downstairs, and a 7-Eleven half a block away. Georgetown is about 10 minutes away, so you’ll need a taxi or Grab. The suites are spacious and nice, though their furnishings differ, so cleanliness can be hit or miss.

One parking space per unit is the main limitation. Otherwise, this homestay is convenient, with a marina and shopping around it, places to walk or jog, and options for dining and other amenities. The views are lovely at sunrise and sunset. Highly recommended.

The friendly property manager was a plus. This upscale service apartment has a shopping mall, and the promenade is a draw too. You can stroll by the sea and look at the luxury yatch in the port.
