OYO 43960 Laksamana Executive & Boutique Hotel

The room is basic but good enough, and the staff were friendly. Pasar Tanjung is close, about a 3-5 minute walk. There's also what I think is the best roti canai in Tawau right beside the hotel, at restoran azura, if I'm remembering the name right. Be careful booking through Agoda or Booking: my booking was cancelled because the hotel said the app had the wrong price, and we had to pay the new amount at the hotel and get a refund from Agoda. For peace of mind, call the hotel before check-in.

The room cleanliness was so-so, and both the service and the building need improvement. None of the T5 lights around the bed or TV worked. The little drawer and the wall paint are totally gg.

It's cheaper than a standard hotel, so here's a quick pros and cons list. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so maybe I'm being harsh. The sheets were clean, there was a TV and enough plugs, the staff were okay-ish and sort of friendly, and shampoo was provided. Shops are within walking distance too. But the toilet had no flush, and the loose sink dripped until water sat there. There were no windows, so I joked someone could climb into our room. You can't control the AC, there were cups but no drinks, the wooden floor was broken, and the towels had holes, though I guess they were usable. The walls were stained. Have fun!

The bed hadn't been cleaned properly and still had hair from the previous guest. Room hygiene was poor, and there were no basic toiletries or conveniences for guests.
