The room smelled awful, damp and moldy, and the air conditioner was filthy with mold too. There was even a hole in the floor, and the walls had mold on them. We left five minutes after checking in. Avoid this place.

The faucet was broken, tiles were cracked and loose, and the AC smelled like something had died inside it. There were cockroaches running around and mold on the walls too. Really disappointing. They might as well hand the building over to the cockroach empire.

Tawau is a bit odd for finding food: places open late in the morning but close by 8 pm, and the staff couldn't suggest anywhere to eat. I stayed two nights, on April 2 and 3. The room was clean and tidy, though very dated and in need of renovation, which is about what I expected for the price. I reported a leaking toilet, but the staff didn't seem interested.

A handy, affordable spot for two people, with friendly staff and easy access to food, convenience stores, and e-hailing services. The room has an iron, coffee, water, and a water heater, plus complimentary toiletries.

The room had a window but no view, and the bed was okay. The air conditioner gets super cold. The hot shower was unreliable, with water that was only warm sometimes and cold at other times. Booking through an online app can get you a really cheap rate.
