Beach House is right on the beach, with hammocks and beach chairs to use. We enjoyed walking along the shore away from town, where there are pretty golden-sand beaches you can reach on foot. Some are a little rocky for swimming, especially at lower tide. The place is basic but has what you need, including air con, and we weren’t woken by the call to prayer. It’s at the northern end of Genting, about a 15-minute walk from the jetty and the main shops and restaurants. Eno built the accommodation and was our host. He communicated well, met us at the jetty to take our luggage, and was kind and friendly. He cooked a simple, yummy breakfast each day. You can buy beer, water, and soft drinks on site at reasonable prices, or get a wider range of alcohol at the Duty Free shop near the jetty in town. We happened to visit during Eid, so many shops and restaurants were closed on some days. Eno explained the local custom and helped us find places to eat. We were grateful for the help and for getting to experience the custom. We often had dinner at Bayu chalet, a five-minute walk away. For our early ferry to Mersing, Eno took us at 5:30am. We loved staying here and appreciated the service. I’d highly recommend Beach House.

Eno and his family hosted us in these lovely, quaint little beach huts. They’re right on the beach and have AC. Absolutely beautiful.

Eno and Fiza made us feel like family, shared authentic local dishes, and let us try our hand at Malaysian coconut and fishing. The breakfast was outstanding. Our room was spotless, and we enjoyed relaxing in the front bungalow with its stools, table, and hammocks. The island is a real gem, and Eno was a super host. A 10/10 stay, highly recommended!

I spent a week here in mid-May and had a great time. It’s a small beach house of your own, with a porch and a table and hammock under palm trees right by the beach. The owner is friendly, always up for a chat, picks you up from the jetty, and cooks breakfast. The place is super cool. If you’re worried about insects, I hardly encountered any sandflies and only had a few mosquitoes. There’s a net and AC, plus some ordinary ants, but nothing to worry about. It’s peaceful, and also suits people who like diving or jungle trekking. Take at least a week to explore the island and relax here. 10/10, I’d come again.

At Beach House you’re paying for a truly private setting right in front of the beach, with a wonderful view of the moon and sunset. The quaint room suits one or two people and has the basics, but bring your own toiletries. Breakfast is included. For lunch or dinner, Bonda Nor's lovely kitchen is about a kilometre away, an easy walk. Thanks to Eno, Fiza, and little Hanum for sharing some of the island's secrets with us.
