Melina Beach Resort

During our three weeks traveling in Malaysia, this was our favourite place to stay. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing, the staff were thoughtful, and we were comfortable and ate delicious food. Prices are on the high side, but for us the experience was absolutely worth it.

The beach is so peaceful, the sunsets are amazing, and you can snorkel on the house reef or join a snorkeling trip. Emma and Rose especially were attentive and thoughtful, and made us feel really comfortable. As vegans, we don't always find good food easily, but once we explained our diet, they made sure there were options for us. We also really appreciate the resort's work supporting ecological efforts, including reforesting the coral reef and teaching school classes about marine life and protecting our oceans.

I loved the peaceful, quiet feel of Melinda Resort in Tioman. I spent hours by the beach on the swing and hammock, reading, listening to the waves, or looking out at the ocean. The staff were welcoming from arrival to departure and made everything easy and comfortable. For a bit of activity, the walk to Gua Melamin is a must, and it's best to explore on foot from the resort. The scenery along the way is beautiful and gives you a nice taste of the island's natural charm. This hidden gem exceeded my expectations for a relaxing escape. I'm already looking forward to coming back!

The restaurant was the highlight for us: the food was really tasty, the staff were very friendly, and special requests were no problem. They even gave us bananas and mangos for free. Restaurant prices did seem high, though. A packaged ice cream from the freezer cost 18 Ringgit, which felt expensive compared with other places on the island. We slept really well because the nights were quiet. In the morning, though, fuel-powered leaf blowers made noise and the petrol smell wasn't pleasant. There were stains on the sheets, the windows weren't very clean, the curtain looked old, and there was some trash outside the hut. We enjoyed the atmosphere and kind restaurant service, but the accommodation could be better for the price.
