For a 3500Mt room, the AC wasn't working, some furniture was falling apart, there was no restaurant, and the swimming pool was out of service. The only reason to choose this place is that it's half the price of the nearby hotels by the beach. I arrived late in the evening and found only one officer there. He didn't want me to go to reception and expected me to pay on arrival, but gave no receipt.

The food and atmosphere are excellent, though the menu prices aren't the cheapest. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the beachfront setting is hard to argue with. Catembe Beach Lodge looks beautiful, overlooking Maputo Bay and the city. There aren't many better spots for a couple of caipirinhas while watching the sunset.

It's right on the beach, and the view is great, but the water isn't clean enough for swimming. The place itself is beautiful, though the showers could be cleaner. They don't always serve food, which is inconvenient.

The surf's roar outside and the quiet of the lodge together make for a special moment if you love being around nature. Tonight, there's an amazing glowing display of zooplankton visible on the water's surface.
