Coral Lodge Mozambique

I rarely write reviews, but I had such an amazing little break at Coral Lodge that I wanted to. I was there on my own during a work trip, and the staff made me feel so welcome. They even offered me dinner alone beside a beach bonfire, packed a lunch for the long drive back to Nampula, taught me bao, and chatted about their families and life in Mozambique. I feel lucky to have met them. The bungalows and facilities were beautiful, the setting gorgeous, and the food delicious. I just wish I could have stayed longer.

The staff and team were wonderful, doing all they could to make our stay pleasant. We booked through Expedia, though, and the price set our expectations very high. Some of the equipment and facilities felt run down. At a lower rate that would have been fine, but at these prices the owners need to invest in and refurbish quite a bit if they want to keep charging the same.

With private beach access, you could stay in your bungalow the whole time if you wanted. The rooms were incredible and the service great, a real five-star experience. A lovely spot for a vacation or to get away from the big city.

We arrived by Dhow from Mozambique Island, another paradise. The water was clear and warm, and the seafood was the best I’ve tasted, especially those unrealistically huge prawns. The young couple managing the resort were very friendly. This is paradise on earth, though the lodge is upmarket and very expensive.
