Being away from the beachfront is a real plus in peak season, when the noise, quad bikes and general chaos can get tiring. This is the most relaxed place in Ponta, with lovely gardens and cats, dogs, birds, monkeys and butterflies around. The staff are so warm and welcoming, they feel like family. Chef Tony makes the best chicken on this side of the equator, and you can get an ice-cold 2M here. Don't miss a meal at nearby Lua do Mar either, the view is breathtaking.

We went dolphin watching during our long weekend, which was a great experience, and the staff at Gala Gala were friendly and accommodating throughout. Bev and Mandy were fantastic hosts. We'd come with friends to unwind and try something different from Durban, and this eco resort was just right for relaxing and meeting like-minded people. There are several kinds of accommodation, and the beach is a short walk away, incredibly private and beautiful. Well worth the visit.

The way the resort sits within the area made our stay especially pleasant. Some of the 4 wheelers in town don't often come this way, so it was quieter. Restaurants are very nearby, and we enjoyed the bar, pool, gift area, and really everything about the place. Our family of four felt welcome and at home. Bev was very friendly and mindful of the environment, and the whole staff focused on guests and made the experience personal. The morning chef greeted us and brought our orders each day. This was one of the highlights of our December, 2024 trip to Africa.

We paid R3200 for a Sunday night for three adults and a child, breakfast included, while travelling through Mozambique in a Bangalore. After seeing so many positive reviews, the stay was a huge disappointment. Our Bangalore smelled like a toilet, and there were dead cockroaches in the shower and another crawling in the bathroom. It was disgusting. The kitchen was only 3m2, though we didn't use it, and I can't see how a family on holiday would be comfortable there. We also had to share one bathroom and toilet, both in the main bedroom. Breakfast was just coffee, juice, two eggs and bacon, with everything else costing extra. For that rate, I expected more. We'd pay the same for a Sunday night at a Sun International or Hilton Umhlanga and get so much more, so this didn't feel like value for money, especially with the bugs and smell. We travel a lot and value for money matters to us. Reviews were a big reason we chose it, but it was a massive letdown.

Everyone on the team was kind and caring, and really tried to make our stay special. The facilities are beautiful and comfortable, set in a natural environment with respect for nature. We could easily walk to both the beach and the village. Many thanks to the whole team for an unforgettable stay in Ponta di Ouro.
