Vilanculos Beach Lodge

The team made our five-night stay at Vilanculos Beach Lodge especially memorable. Everyone, from reception and housekeeping to the pool staff, security, gardeners, and wait staff, was so friendly and went out of their way for us. The property is clean and well kept, with thoughtful decor throughout. We ate every meal at the restaurant, and each one was exquisite. Breakfast was particularly good. Wherever you look, the views are incredible, like a postcard. There's plenty included to do, from paddle boarding and kayaking to volleyball, swing ball, and board games, plus a kite surfing school at the lodge. It's a truly magical, paradise-like place. Thanks to the whole team for such a memorable holiday. I couldn't recommend it more.

I was on crutches during our first-week-of-November 2025 stay at Vilankulos Beach Lodge, but still enjoyed it quite a bit. The room and hotel were in excellent condition, and the location is pleasant, with a good swimming beach at high tide. The restaurant food was good, though dinner service became very slow when it was busier. It seemed to be a kitchen issue, and I think they should pay it more attention. We compared it with the neighboring Bahia Mar hotel's restaurant when both had a similar number of customers, and Bahia Mar was much more efficient. We also found the many rules posted everywhere and the security cameras pointing toward private parts of our bungalow, like the terrace, a bit unpleasant and intimidating. The room listed prices for items too, including what you'd pay if the mosquito net were damaged. At times it felt like being in a militarized zone, which we hadn't experienced on any previous stay.

We had the family suite, and its view across the beach and sea to the islands was superb. The rooms are very comfortable without being over the top or excessive. Staff are friendly, well trained, and very helpful. Vilanculos Beach Lodge makes an excellent tropical getaway and is well worth a visit.

The staff made a stressful travel hiccup feel easy when our return flight was unexpectedly cancelled. They let us keep the exact same room for an extra night, and were also great at suggesting excursions that suited our family. Our teen son had been reluctant to travel here at first, but ended up loving the trip. The meals were beyond what we expected, with every one feeling like fine dining and truly 5-star quality. I'll especially remember the ice cream with olive oil and sea salt. We had a truly exceptional stay and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend it for comfort, adventure, and genuine hospitality.
