The cultural tour was a real highlight, and I think everyone should do it. The location is beautiful and wonderfully isolated, and the staff are fantastic. We also loved some of the food, the afternoon coffee and cake, and the little gifts when we left.

The cottages are dotted across a remote plateau on a mountain pass, giving the place a special feel. You can join walking safaris or guided hikes. Getting there takes a 4x4. The rooms are a little aged, and service is slightly below the national standard, though the welcome and care feel heartfelt. For the price, the rooms are absolutely worth it. Excellent value.

The views and lodge were amazing, but the staff made the biggest impression. They made us feel so welcome while we were travelling with our small baby. Loved it, and can't recommend it enough.

We felt at home right away thanks to the warm, friendly and caring staff. The view across the plateau and canyon is breathtaking, and the lodge itself is amazing. Be sure to include Grootberg Lodge in your Namibia itinerary.

We only stopped for lunch, but the meal was delicious, especially the burgers and seafood. The dinner menu looked even better, and the views were incredible. The drive up is very steep, so you need a 4x4 and low gear. I think the staff can take guests up in one of their safari jeeps or trucks. I'd definitely stay next time.
